Four Walls, Two Selves

Performance

Video, Projection and Choreography

Winter 2020

“Four Walls, Two Selves” was an improvisational performance at Alvin Ailey in February of 2020. It examines the lack of physical space I inhabited in my New York apartment and how that impacted my propensity to work. The limitations of space and time along with the never-ending demands that the city placed on my attention created this piece. I worked in dance, video, collage, and text to meld ideas together, and created many possibilities for experience based on attention. By overwhelming the viewer with many stimuli across the senses, I aim to provoke a conscious and intentional direction for a viewer’s attention.
